Coffee prevent skin cancer. Image: everydayluxurylife.com
As in the case of tea, the coffee was a drink of paradise that has tremendous benefits for human life, but we should not drink too much tea or coffee. There are many scientific studies or articles that prove that coffee has many benefits for our health, for example, coffee may prevent dementia or Alzheimer's, even the aroma of coffee also have uses attract the opposite sex, as well as a variety of other benefits.

It was also found that coffee also contains antioxidants, so the caffeine in coffee can help you be fit and healthy throughout the day.

There is a recent study suggests the latest facts about the benefits of coffee, as well as a mood booster for us to work all day. A study at the University of Washington found that the caffeine in coffee, apparently killing a small number of cells that have the potential to become cancerous (precancerous cells) caused by sun exposure. In the same study, also found that caffeine can kill cells that are in the process of division in our skin when exposed to sunlight.

The research has been published in the AACR (American Association for Cancer Research) by Yao-Ping Lu, You-Rong Lou, Qing-Yun Peng, Paul Nghiem, and Allan H. Conney is suggested that their findings only valid in cases of basal cell skin cancer carcinoma. That is one of the three types of skin cancers are the most common skin cancer patients in the world, which caused DNA damage to the skin from the UVB rays of the sun.

How does it work?

Drink coffee wisely. Imge: inspirationcruises.com
The caffeine in coffee works by blocking a protein ATR (ataxia telangiectasia and Rad3-related enzyme) which gives the effect of UV exposure to the DNA that makes DNA replication is not perfect and even most of them were broken into early stage precancerous changes in cells that can sell continue to develop into cancer concomitant skin exposure to the sun.

The study was initially successful in these mice at the beginning of the year , it gives the same results in 110,000 participants with an average age of 22-24 years. Of the total participants , there are patients with variations in the number of skin cancer by type . is 22,786 basal cell carcinoma , squamous cell carcinomas 1,953 and melanomas 741 which then results were published back in the 10th Annual AACR International meeting in Boston, USA .

With the advent of comparative reduction in the risk of basal cell carcinoma, 20 % in women and 9 % in men who drank more than 3 cups of coffee per day. But he also said that the accumulative drinking coffee can not be a reference, but a few moments before the skin is exposed to sunlight, then caffeine can work optimally kill damaged cells in the skin. So no doubt the usefulness of caffeine that can be added to the anti- sun lotion to increase its effectiveness against skin cancer, as will be proved later by Paul Nghiem and his team.

The benefits of coffee for skin care

Beyond these studies, coffee also has fruit acids, organic acids, fats, alkaloids, minerals, potassium, magnesium and iron that are beneficial to the health and beauty of skin on your face , even coffee is also useful to note the beauty of your hair. There is an example for you if you want to take advantage of the coffee to refresh your face, which is as follows:

Make a cup of coffee , then put in ice-cube trays, then freeze it in the freezer until frozen. After coffee iced coffee cut the opening, after the wipe to the face like wearing lotion. Rinse face with clean water, and feel the face will feel fresh again.

Special advice: Do not drink too much coffee , two cups or three cups of coffee is enough to make you keep the spirit and healthy every day. Reduce drinking coffee if you feel there are changes that affect your health. Immediately consult with your doctor so that you know your body condition.

Sick Maintenance or Sick Prevention? | Which Would You Choose?

Would you rather spend your money on sick prevention or sick maintenance?

Are you feeling tired, under the weather, constant allergies or headaches? What are you doing to eliminate them? Sick maintenance? Meaning go to the doctor, fork out your co-pay, possibly get a prescription, maybe buy some OTC meds, experience the side effects, dealing with insurance deductibles, the list can go on and on!

What if...just what if...you started spending your time and energy on sick PREVENTION instead of maintenance? How do you think your health would be affected? How do you think your pocketbook would be affected?

If you're constantly sick or feeling bad, now may be the time to do a check on what's affecting you. Lack of sleep? Poor eating habits? Allergies? Is your gut unhealthy? And now think about how much you're spending each month to try to get healthy again, only to get sick AGAIN a few weeks later! Ugh!

Trust me, we've been there. We were there for a long time.

We finally got sick of sick and decided to get healthier!

Now that we're using natural supplements and cleaning products, our allergies are BETTER, our gut health is WAY BETTER, this mama has TONS MORE ENERGY, my sweet husband has been sinus infection FREE, our son has been stomach virus FREE, and we're not spending money on sick maintenance.

We're spending that money on sick PREVENTION. And we've reaped the rewards of changing our lifestyle by doing so!

Now, I'm not a doctor, I will NEVER prescribe something to you. I will ALWAYS tell you to ask the opinion of your own doctor first.

However, I'm happy to share with you what safe, natural remedies work for our family! After lots of research, our family chose to use Shaklee's products for a number of reasons, the top two I'll list.

1) Their products are based on science, not fads. Shaklee's products go through rigorous quality testing before being put on the shelves. Check out Clinical Research and the Landmark Study for more information!

2) Integrity. I don't know about you, but integrity is huge when it comes to choosing a company that's all about health and wellness. Shaklee is built on integrity and taking care of people; in fact, you won't find a recall from our products anywhere. They want their products to be SAFE!

There is no such thing as a miracle pill, miracle oil, miracle drink, get better in 3 days while you lose 30lbs in the process. Sorry folks, it just doesn't work that way.

Building better health takes time and commitment; not a whole lot of time, but you've got to be invested in yourself and your family for their future health! And it's not that hard!

I've rediscovered my passion for HELPING OTHERS get healthier, happier and reap the rewards of this lifestyle. I want to help you too!

Feel free to comment, email me, or find me on Facebook and we'll connect and chat!

Here's to YOUR HEALTH!

Sexy and beautiful breasts. Image: goodsinfinite.com
Every woman would want to always look beautiful, slender, bushy hair, and of course the women also want to have beautiful and healthy breasts. Breast with beautiful shape, sexy, dense, and healthy as well is a dream of every woman. Breast is not only beneficial for the breastfeeding, the breasts of women is the main thing to keep up appearances to keep it beautiful and interesting. That's why women can be obsessed with the shape and size of the breast.

Some women even dare to take risks to perform plastic surgery, breast implants also planted them. The women are very prioritizing aesthetics and beauty, but be alert to the health problems in the organs of the body, as well as on the breast.

So, how do you to get healthy and beautiful breasts?

How to maintain breast health is not different from the way you keep the rest of the body. There are simple ways that have been provided of the universe, so that the women do not worry about the problems that will arise in their breasts. The women are encouraged to consume more vegetables and fruits. Positive activities to enjoy fruits and vegetables is recommended to get a healthy body, including avoiding chronic diseases like breast tumors. A new study revealed that the benefits of fruit and vegetable consumption, proved to be very effective to prevent breast tumors, and will achieve optimum results if carried out since the age of adolescence.

Do you want to have sexy breasts, beautiful and healthy as well?

Adolescent girls who ate the most fruits and vegetables, especially those rich in carotenoids, have a lower risk of breast tumors. Carotenoids are pigments that produce the color orange, red, or dark green fruits and vegetables. The pigment has the ability of antioxidants to fight disease, and can prevent tumor or cancer. If you do not like vegetables or fruit, now is the time you "force" yourself with creative ways to eat more vegetables and fruits.

Breast tumor is basically a non-cancerous condition of the breast, although some may develop into cancer tumors. Breast tumor is an abnormal growth of cells in the breast that can produce lumps. Caroline Boeke studies, the Chairman of doctoral candidate at the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard School of Public Health confirms that it has been many studies linking carotenoids and breast cancer. Caroline Boeke further said that overall carotenoid has a protective effect against cancer. Then the researchers also analyzed the effect of vegetable consumption in girls since 1996.

In the study, researchers conducted dietary analysis from 1996 to 1998, and evaluate the results of the diagnosis of breast tumors in 2005, 2007, and 2010. Study involving nearly 6,600 girls, 122 of whom were diagnosed with breast tumors. The data is certainly a warning for women to be more vigilant in the incidence of tumors in their breasts.

The study, published in the journal Pediatrics found that girls who ate more carotenoids protected from breast tumors. Broke further said, that the risk of breast tumors in about half of them in comparison to other groups who eat a little bit of carotenoid.

However, the study does not claim a causal relationship between the two. Boeke said, they only have relevance, after entering other factors that influence the risk of breast tumors such as alcohol consumption, physical activity, family history, and body mass index, the association still has not changed.

Remember the old saying, that it is better to prevent disease than to treat it. Because it's your breasts not only maintained the beauty and sexuality, but more important is to keep your breasts in order to remain healthy with simple and smart way. Make sure you always eat vegetables and fruits, and of course regular exercise is also very important for a healthy and fit body.

Our Family's Favorite Toddler Books

Hello!
Today I wanted to share with you our family's favorite toddler books. We love to read in our home; the boys get stories before bed every night, and any time they bring a book to us during the day, Matt and I are happy to read to them! We want to instill good reading habits in them and encourage their imaginations through reading!

Here's a list of some of our favorites!

Anything by Sandra Boynton - her books are funny and have a super fun cadence to them. Our favorites are Hippos Go Berserk, Hey! Wake Up, and The Going to Bed Book.

Goodnight Gorilla - this one really lets us and the boys use their imaginations to tell the story because it's just a picture book.

Where's Spot? - this one is perfect for young toddlers, because they love to open the flaps.

Little Blue Truck - a fun, rhyming book that also teaches a lesson about helping others, even when they're being stinkers.

Home for a Bunny - a classic. In fact, the copy that we have is the one I had growing up...so it's OLD! I don't know what I like best about it- the gorgeous illustrations or the story line!

The Goodnight Train - it's so soothing for bedtime; it makes me sleep just reading it!

Anything by Mercer Mayer - we love the Little Critter books! They're sweet and funny, but always have a great moral to the story such as sharing

What are your favorite books to read to your kids?

Your Health and the Environment

I believe most of us are committed to good health and have daily activities and routines we follow to help support our health. We exercise, take natural supplements, drink a high-protein smoothie, drink water, wear sunscreen...the list goes on!
All these small steps taken day in and day out lead to a stronger and healthier YOU!
While all of those things are an excellent way to be healthy, I want to be sure you arent missing an important part of the health puzzle by being exposed to chemicals in your environment.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tracks more than 84,000 chemicals used in commerce.  These chemicals, have worked their way into our everyday lives. Now, no matter how clean you try to live, it is impossible to escape exposure from these chemicals that may put an amazingly heavy burden on our liver and other detoxification pathways in our bodies. Chemicals are found in the food we eat, clothes we wear, personal care products we use, and even the very products that we use to keep our homes clean and safe.
Take a look at the chemicals found in common household cleaners:
NameFound inPotentially harmful effects
PhthalatesSolvents used to make fragrancesEndocrine disrupters: Men with high levels of phthalates in their blood have reduced sperm counts.
Perchloroethylene(PERC)Dry-cleaning solution, spot removers, carpet cleanersThe EPA classifies PERC as a possible carcinogen and has ordered a phase-out of the chemical by 2020.
TriclosanAn antibacterial found in dishwashing detergents and hand soapsLeads to drug-resistant bacteria and is a possible hormone disrupter.
2-ButoxyethanolMostly found in window cleaners, is responsible for the sweet smellGeneral irritant when inhaled, at high levels can damage lungs, liver, and kidneys
AmmoniaFound in many cleaning productsWhen inhaled, it can irritate the lungs and potentially worsen asthma.
ChlorineAnother ubiquitous chemical, found in toilet bowl cleaner, mildew removers, laundry products, and even tap waterChlorine is very reactive and irritates skin and lungs. It may disrupt the thyroid.
While it can be daunting to think that we are surrounded by so many chemicals, the good news is that there are fantastic natural choices that will do the job these chemicals do just as well without exposing you and your family to potentially harmful fumes, solvents, and toxins.
Be sure you only have safe, green cleaners under your sink and in your laundry. Choosing green cleaners means that you are doing the best for your health, the environment, and your familys well-being! My family exclusively uses Shaklee green cleaners...they're safe, nontoxic, they work and are saving us a ton of money!
What is your favorite green cleaning tip?
Thank you to Dr. Jamie McManus for contributing much of this information!

What I'm Reading Wednesday

First, I want to express my sadness over the shooting at Ft. Hood today. I, along with so many, am shocked that this happened again, just 5 years after the first shooting. Matt and I are praying for the victims and their families.

Today I want to share with you what I'm reading!
The New Parenting Style That Might Be More Than a Fad. So when this started showing up in my Facebook feed yesterday with people all up in arms, I had to read the article. At first I was like, "What the what?? Are you CRAZY??" Then, I clicked a few links and found out the truth of said article...it was a brilliant April Fool's joke thanks to Honest Toddler! I love it! (And it goes to show that you've GOT to do research when you read stuff on the interwebs...just because it's there doesn't make it true!) Big props to you Honest Toddler for fooling so many people!
15 Ab Exercises by Maria Kang, made famous via social media for her 'controversial' post about "What's your excuse" regarding making time for exercise. Well, I happen to think she's on point...love her and I love how she tells everyone straight up that she's not perfect, she has stretch marks, she misses workouts, she doesn't eat clean 24/7. Anyhow... this is a great list of ab exercises and I've been doing them for a few weeks. So yes, I'm reading about ab workouts! :)
Monthly Subscription Box List from Two Chics and a Blog. I currently don't subscribe to any monthly boxes, but I've considered it. I had NO IDEA there were so many! It's kind of overwhelming, but really neat to see all the choices out there!
Hyperthyroid Diagnosis from Pomme Wellness, one of my colleagues. Ya'll, read her husband's story. Read it! It's scary, but has a WONDERFUL ending!
What are you reading this week?

17 Worst Habits for Your Heart

Here are the worst habits for your heart, and how to avoid them.

Bad habits for your heart

Everyone wants to have a healthy heart. Still, cardiovascular disease affects more than 1 in 3 adults in the United States.

The good news is that some simple, everyday habits can make a big difference in your ability to live a healthy lifestyle.

Here are the 17 worst habits for your heart, and how to avoid them.

Watching TV

Sitting for hours on end increases your risk of heart attack and stroke, even if you exercise regularly.

"Intermittent exercise doesn't compensate for the time you sit," says Harmony R. Reynolds, MD, associate director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Center at NYU Langone Medical Center, in New York City.

Why? The lack of movement may affect blood levels of fats and sugars.

Dr. Reynolds advises walking around periodically and, if you're at work, standing up to talk on the phone.

Leaving hostility and depression unchecked

Are you feeling stressed, hostile, or depressed? It can take a toll on your heart.

While everyone feels this way some of the time, how you handle these emotions can affect your heart health. Those likely to internalize stress are in greater danger; research has shown a benefit to laughter and social support, Dr. Reynolds says.

And its helpful to be able to go to someone and talk about your problems.

Ignoring the snoring

More than a minor annoyance, snoring can be a sign of something more serious: obstructive sleep apnea. This disorder, marked by breathing that is interrupted during sleep, can cause blood pressure to skyrocket.

More than 18 million Americans adults have sleep apnea, which increases the risk of heart disease. People who are overweight or obese are at higher risk for sleep apnea, but slim people can have it too.

If you snore and often wake up feeling tired, talk with your doctor; there are easy ways to screen for apnea, says Robert Ostfeld, MD, associate professor of clinical medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, in New York City.

Not flossing

While the exact reason is unknown, there is a strong link between gum disease and heart disease, Dr. Ostfeld says.

If you dont floss, sticky, bacteria-laden plaque build up over time, which can lead to gum disease. One theory is that these bacteria trigger inflammation in the body.

Inflammation promotes all aspects of atherosclerosis, Dr. Ostfeld says. Treating gum disease can improve blood vessel function.

Withdrawing from the world

It's no secret that on some days, other human beings can seem annoying, irritating, and just plain difficult to get along with.

However, it makes sense to strengthen your connections to the ones you actually like. People with stronger connections to family, friends, and society in general tend to live longer, healthier lives.

Everyone needs alone time, but you should still reach out to others and keep in touch whenever you can.

Youre either all or nothing

Call it the Weekend Warrior Syndrome.

I see so many people in their 40s and 50s dive into exercising with good intentions, hurt themselves, and then stop exercising all together, says Judith S. Hochman, MD, director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Center at NYUs Langone Medical Center.

With exercise, its wise to aim for slow and steady. Its more important to have a regular exercise commitment, says Dr. Reynolds. Be in it for the long game.

Drinking (too much) alcohol

Sure, studies suggest a small amount of alcohol may be good for your heart. Alas, too many over-imbibe.

Excess alcohol is linked to a greater risk of high blood pressure, high levels of blood fats, and heart failure. In addition, the extra calories can lead to weight gain, a threat to heart health.

If you drink, stick to no more than two drinks per day for men, and no more than one a day for women. (One drink means a 12-ounce beer or 4-ounce glass of wine).

Overeating

Being overweight is a major risk factor for heart disease, and 72% of men and 64% of women in the U.S are overweight or obese.

Try to eat less, avoid oversize portions, and replace sugary drinks with water.

Dr. Reynolds and Dr. Hochman also suggest cutting portion sizes for high-calorie carbohydrates (think refined pastas and breads) and watching out for foods labeled low-fat, which are often high in calories.

Assuming you're not at risk

Cardiovascular diseaseincluding stroke, heart disease, and heart failureclaims more lives in the United States than any other illness, including cancer.

"Don't assume you're not at risk," says Dr. Ostfeld.

High blood pressure and cholesterol, diabetes, being overweight, and smoking are all risk factors that should be kept in check.

Eating red meat

Its best to think of red meat as an occasional treat rather than the foundation of a daily diet. Red meat is high in saturated fat, and theres also evidence that processed meat, such as bacon and hot dogs, increases your risk of cardiovascular disease and colorectal cancer. Ideally, less than 10% of your diet should come from animals and animal products, Dr. Ostfeld advises.

Cant part with the beef? Choose a lean cut of red meat and limit your intake. People have to know that if you want a steak a few times a month, its OK, Dr. Hochman says. Its what youre eating three times a day thats the issue. Be in it for the long haul. Eat a balanced diet.

Being a health procrastinator

Check in with an MD so that you know your numbers for cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar.

If these are elevated, you're at risk for silent killers like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

One thought: The lifetime risk of developing hypertension, or high blood pressure, for adults in their mid-50s is approximately 90%, even with those who never had a problem before. "The general point is that just because you didn't have it at 24 doesn't mean you don't have it at 54," Dr. Ostfeld says.

Smoking or living with a smoker

Sure, you've heard it a million times before: Don't smoke. But it bears repeating.

"Smoking is a total disaster for your heart," says Dr. Ostfeld. Smoking promotes blood clots, which can block blood flow to the heart, and contributes to plaque buildup in the arteries.

It's also a smart bomb aimed at everyone around you, Dr. Ostfeld says. In fact, about 46,000 nonsmokers who live with a smoker die from heart disease each year because of secondhan

Stopping or skipping meds

Let's be honest: Taking pills is a pain. There can be side effects. And it's easy to forget your meds, especially if you feel fine.

"High blood pressure is called the silent killer because you don't feel it," Dr. Ostfeld says. "Saying you feel fine is not a justification for stopping these pills."

There are 30 types of high blood pressure medications, so there are choices if one isn't working, Dr. Hochman says. "If one medication doesn't work, we can try something else."

Avoiding fruits and vegetables

"The most heart-healthy diet is a plant-based diet," Dr. Ostfeld says. That means loading up on fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains, low-fat dairy, and protein, and keeping junk food to a minimum. In fact, new federal dietary guidelines recommend that half of each meal should be composed of fruits and vegetables.

Research has found that people who eat more than five servings of fruits and vegetables a day had about 20% lower risk of heart disease and stroke than people who ate less than three servings per day.

Ignoring physical symptoms

If you used to walk up three flights of stairs without a problem, but suddenly you're short of breath after one flight or have chest pressure, it's time to call your doctornow. Never assume it's because you're out of shape.

Doctors say "time is muscle," meaning the quicker you get treatment for possible trouble, the less likely you are to have permanent damage to your heart muscle.

"It's better for it to be much ado about nothing than sitting on a heart attack for six hours," which is not uncommon, Dr. Ostfeld says

Being a salty snacker

The more salt you consume, the higher your blood pressure rises. One in three American adults has high blood pressure, a major risk factor for stroke, kidney failure, and heart attack.

Steer clear of packaged junk food, read the labels for sodium content, and stick to the outer portions of the supermarket, which is where the fruits, vegetables, and (unsalted) nuts are, Dr. Ostfeld says.

Most of us should keep sodium intake below 2,300 milligrams a day. If you have high blood pressure or are over 50, cut back to 1,500 milligrams.

Eating empty calories

Foods high in sugar, fat, and oil deliver calories, but very fewif anynutrients your body can use.

Studies have shown that a diet full of empty calories increases the risk of obesity and diabetes.

Look for foods dense in nutrients, such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, seafood, eggs, beans and peas, and unsalted nuts and seeds. Lean meats and poultry, along with fat-free and low-fat milk, are good choices as we
